Just Thinking

A week ago tonight, we lazed on the porch and watched the sunset and I took this photo of a cruise ship passing way out to sea (click on the photo to enlarge, see the ship and the beautiful light of the setting sun on the palm fronds)......
How very fortunate I am......life just seems so very vivid and precious right now. Not sure if the island restored my perspective, but I do know it healed my spirit and body.....not sure about my mind...LOL
Today was such a beautiful day here and this evening was supposed to find me babysitting for youngest grandson, Teddy. I was ready for Teddy but he was not up to having Nana with him tonight. He has double ear infections and had a physical today along with some shots, so his Mum and Dad decided they better stay home and watch him closely. I did go by anyway, and we had a lovely visit. Teddy has sure grown in the few short weeks since I saw him last and he was certainly goodnatured for a baby with ear infections.

As I drove home, I thought long about the gratitude I have for my wonderful children, each so special in their own way.....I was able to talk with or be with each of them today and there is a richness in my soul as I prepare for rest.

There was also a sweet conversation with LM's daughter, Kristi tonight as she called to inquire about my trip and remind me that we are going on a BIG two-week trip to Florida in October. She is beyond excited. What joy it gives me that LM and I will now be able to fulfill her life-long dream to go to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Kristi is 40, developmentally challenged yet she knows what she wants and loves.
Of course, I still wait for my furry "child" to come home.....LM says maybe Saturday afternoon but only time will tell, as I am sure he is reluctant to part with her loving presence.

A soft rain is falling and I am off to bed. "Love a Rainy Night."
As an aside.....when the island palm fronds are moved by the breezes they sound just like a lightly falling rain....I slept to that music on the island and just loved it!

Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day visiting. I cleaned out 1/2 of my kitchen cabinets - they were just disgusting and I couldn't find anything. Now after 3 garbage bags of stuff gone - I can see and find anything and even have room to put everything in it's right place. I have the girls tonight. We painted, colored, played Barbie's and Police and watched a few videos. They are finally sleeping - but didn't fall asleep until 11:15...aaaahh peace and quiet. Sleep tight....debbie

Hi Debbie,
What a great feeling it is to clean out closets and cabinets. They do seem to get "out of control" so quickly, don't they?
Enjoy having the girls.
Just waking up here this morning.

Ah, Debbie, LOL I have been in slow motion......and have had little time to post. Grief has caught me a bit by surprise, too. I promise to "take you to Eleuthera" by the end of the week. Heaven knows, we need it. It is cold here!
I love hearing from you.

Oh, I'm so sorry you are having a hard time. My daddy died in 2004 and sometimes I feel the same way. No hurry with Eleuthera, it'll be there when your ready - take your time. No rush. Enjoy your memories. They are the best defence for grief. You never know, you might find yourself smiling...debbie
