Canada Part 3, Fishing the Grand River, a Birthday Celebration

When he is not stealing the hearts of cats, LM is a passionate fisherman, and lover of nature, so when my niece, Emmy and her boyfriend, Matt, offered to take him fishing on the Grand River in Ontario, he was thrilled. Lots of fishing gear, for any and all possibilities, was packed including extra gear for the hosts. While my sister and I were happily ogling quilt fabric, they were all off to this beautiful site. The day was picture perfect and the scenery breathtaking. Thanks to Emmy, we have this chronicle of their adventure.
The master......

Matt watching, listening and learning. He's such a wonderful person.

The master keeps trying...
Matt released his catch back to the wild. They really had fun and tall fishing tales entertained us at dinner that night to celebrate Margaret's birthday.
Margaret had chosen the perfect venue for her birthday dinner.....Home Town Eatery (formerly Yukiko's) in Uptown Waterloo. A very short trip from the house. The meals are prepared with mostly local, in-season ingredients, and were so delicious. Meatloaf was the hit of the evening. We brought the desserts home! A very special thank you to Jerry for generously hosting us all that evening. It was a wonderful and delicious family time.
After dinner we came back to open presents and have the desserts.
Margaret opens gifts while the catnapper works on his next victim.
The desserts!!! My fave was the lemon poppyseed cake
That's an evil eye if I ever saw one....poor Brenda never had a chance.
Margaret's girls gave her some lovely new blouses and the box became the perfect place for Brenda....she continued to nap in that box for the rest of our visit....so cute. LM was laying on the floor, face to face with her to get this shot.
There is still so much to come on this trip....this day is over, though, and we soon were on our way back to our B & B to rest up for the Thanksgiving feast we would have on Sunday. Monday, October 11, was the actual day for Canadian Thanksgiving but the girls had things to do and places to be, so we moved it up a day to Sunday.
Stay tuned!!

The whole post made me smile. What a wonderful family photo at the dinner table! Really nice, and the ones of LM fishing were good too. And the opening of presents, reminded me of our family. All gathered around, with all the animals - such fun. The desserts looks very yummy. I live lemon poppey seed anything! Mmmmmm! Certainly are a lot of choices there. Too bad I can't reach up and get one off the screen...:(
Brenda does look quite happy in her box nest. I can just imagine LM laying on the floor with his camera..lol...he's so funny! Looking forward to your Thanksgiving Dinner!! ...debbie
