Provincetown

Several weeks ago, on what was probably the hottest day of our summer, we ventured out to Provincetown to celebrate Meaghan's birthday at an unusual outdoor cafe. The owner serves her very interesting and different South African cuisine. LM and Kristi were not very adventurous in their food choices, but Meg and I really enjoyed the different flavors and the vegan offerings.
Walking along the narrow main street, the quaint architecture of tightly spaced buildings is aglow with flowers, thriving in the salt air.
A tiny courtyard at an inn had some lovely hibiscus.

There are art galleries everywhere.......
Of course, we loved this store, seeing that all things FISH are what makes LM's world go round.
Provincetown has a great sense of off-beat humor and is home to many funny little corners....

The entrance to Karoo Kafe
Meg tries to convince her Dad that he will, indeed, find something edible. He was very skeptical.

Dad and daughter...
Our table....I thoroughly enjoyed some curried cole slaw and a sampler of South African appetizers. The heat, on the other hand, just about did me in. Kristi and Dad had a good old American hamburger with some of the best french fries ever!
Looking toward the center of bustling P-Town.

Gov Bradford Restaurant sporting some lovely flower boxes by their outside dining.
At about this point, my energy gave out and I went back to the car to enjoy some sea breezes while the rest of the company went to have a drink....
Below is the beautiful UU meeting house.

We are so fortunate to live so near Provincetown and we visit often....enjoying its eclectic environment and population. I'll be back there in a few weeks for a seaside lunch with a good friend. There is great shopping, and the people watching is the best fun anywhere.

Meanwhile, back to reality, we are still dealing with the aftermath of Irene. Seeing we had a dry hurricane (without rain), there is much damage to our vegetation and many trees have already lost their leaves. The salt on utility wires continues to wreak havoc on power for many people.
We spent a good portion of Labor Day weekend working on LM's yard. So much to clean up. I loved being outside, though, and we made a lot of progress.
Love to everyone.....

Now THERE is another place I'd like to visit. All the quaint shops and neat places to eat. You are so lucky to live nearby. LM fish shirt did not go unnoticed!! Meg looks like her dad. All the flowers were so pretty! What a great tour...debbie
