Seaside Levity

I spend lunch most days at a little beach about 1/2 mile from my office. Each day brings a different view - high tide, low tide, stormy, perfectly calm, gray or blue, and it is always a lovely time of reflection and diversion in my day.  Yesterday, the tide was about midway and a little sandbar was present about 20 ft from where I sat. Perched, feet tucked under, on the sandbar were two herring gulls, facing downwind.  At one point, one got up, walked to the water and swam around for 10 minutes, then came back and sat right down next to its friend.  It was so funny the way they interacted...looking at each other often.

Today it was low tide, and very calm and sunny.  As I drove up, two greater blackback gulls were having a major tug-of-war with a clam....at low tide the clam beds are exposed.  There were also two herring gulls, and they entertained me for an hour....they had continual "play" and would soar around and come in for a landing to the same spot, one wing dipping down to the water before landing, all accompanied by very loud calls..  The quartet was joined by a lone crow but you could really tell he was an outsider.

As I drove back to the office, I felt so renewed and happy.....nature is right there for all of us all the time. Glad my eyes were receptive today!

Happy Wednesday.....

You are very fortunate to have such a place for your lunch breaks. I can only imagine the way this revives and restores you. Another plus: you are breathing in all that wonderful sea air.

I am looking forward to your visit to Colorado. I hope we can make a plan. My cousin is getting married on the the 12th, so that day will not work. I hope I am driving by then.

Have a great rest of the day.

That sounds like such a nice thing to do. The closeness to nature is why I love living in Oregon so much.

Greetings! I saw a comment you left on another site and saw you were in Cape Cod. I'm in Conn., so we are "almost" neighbors! :)
I will be back to visit again. You have a lovely post today, it was so nice reading about your day, and your beach (so close to you) sounds wonderful!
Best,
Gloria

I think it's really neat that you go to the beach everyday to have lunch. While in Florida, the day I sat at the beach, I did enjoy watching the different types of birds diving into the ocean to get a fish, or following the dolphins, they are fun to watch!! AND....even better when LM sometimes surprises you and joins you!! Pats for Ms G!! ...debbie

Oh my - how I miss the ocean.
There is nothing as peaceful
and healing as watching the
waves come and go.
I can hear the ocean as I read
